your player probably can't do this as most are only set up to record on the vhs. you will need a computer with a video capture card. and a dvd burner. you record the vhs to your computer and then burn it to dvd

If I understand what you are trying to explain, you have a DVD player (Recorder, too?) that also includes a VHS player. If yes, please re-post with Make and Model number.
If this machine doesn't have a DVD Recorder, the answer is no.
If this machine DOES have a DVD Recorder, the answer is Read the User Manual for full instructions, (if the "convert" feature is built-in to the machine).
If this machine DOES have a DVD Recorder, BUT the convert feature isn't built-in to the machine, Google for: Convert VHS to DVD

First I will need to know if yours is a DVD recorder. Then, you can probably pass your VHS to your DVD.
Another form will be using a tv card for your computer and quickplay software, it can the be done. But if you have a DVD recorder that is VHS at the same time, it should nto be an issue.

You need to invest in a DVD recorder and some scart leads....
Then connect the video player to the DVD recorder using the scart lead and away you go.
simple as that really
I have converted all my 'ancient' VHS to DVD this way and it works a treat.

Probably CANNOT transfer the tape to DVD's EVEN if the player has recording ability. The powers that be (copywrite holders) have seen to it that this is not easily done.
Your BEST bet (qualit, price, and hassle factor) is to find a conversion service (most chain drug stores have the service availabe in 48 hrs) and have them to convert them for you. They will insure the best fidelity from one format to the other.
