Hi, I'm 23 weeks pregnant too. I got my 1st yeast infection with this pregnancy and never had one before. My doctor said that yeast infections and bladder infections are sort of common with pregnancy. The antibiotics won't hurt your baby. Something could have irritated you or the way the baby is pushing on you could have caused the bladder infection. Good luck!

Pregnant women are more susceptible to UTI's. They are caused by bacteria going into the bladder by way of the urethra. Drinking water helps prevent them, but it's still possible to get an infection despite drinking water. Assuming your doctor knows you are pregnant, she wouldn't prescribe an antibiotic that wouldn't be safe. It's better to treat the bladder infection now before it turns into a kidney infection.

From WebMD: Pregnancy and urinary tract infections often go hand in hand since pregnant women are at an increased risk to develop UTIs. Pregnancy hormones cause changes in the urinary tract which predispose women to infections. In addition, as the uterus grows it presses on the bladder and can prevent complete emptying of urine. This stagnant urine is a likely source for infection. Untreated, these infections may lead to kidney infections. Urinary tract infections in pregnant women should be treated to prevent complications.

you will be fine. pregnant women get those all the time. holding your urine to long is the strongest way to get a bladder infection. Because when you hold it to long when you do finally go you dont always completly empty your bladder because it contracts when it is full. If it contracts to long urine gets caught or stays in the bladder.
