I've looked at groups on Google and read lots of posts by a group called alt.fifty-plus.friends and a few by a group called soc.senior.issues.. The messages seem similar to the questions and answers I read here on Yahoo Answers. I did notice they have a "report abuse" type of tab there also. You have to get a Google user-name to participate but it is free.. That seniornet place charges a $30 or $40 yearly fee.

EDIT: Plum, you have a great idea. That would work.

We can all go into one of the yahoo game rooms that have a chatroom at the bottom of the screen. We could go pick a room out of Pyramids, JT Blocks or Mahjong Solitaire. Lets say we all want to go into JT Blocks and meet in the Block Ness Monster Room. Go in there first and check it out and see which ID, name of yours shows up on the side colume of all the player in there. Then start emailing or IMing each other and met in there every day or night, which ever you prefer. You might want to check out another room or five or six or a different game. We can chat our hearts out in there and all at one time. You can get about 80 people in one room !!!!! We can play the game as we chat too !!! See what you all think and I hope you include me too !!!!! lol

I had no idea some sites got closed down, which are may I ask?

To answer you, I enjoy this site, it keeps me busy at home when I am alone with my cat Shira. I had a few violations notices myself. But I like interacting with people in this site.

I've only been here about 2 weeks, I liked what I saw when I checked it out and I'm not ready to give up on y'all. I'd rather fight than switch. I've visited many of the forums on Y/A over the past year and they all have their smart-a$$'s on them or breed new ones as they go along. I have a few names in mind on this board that push the limit with their remarks and comments, they will go too far as they get braver.

Open up your own site? I think it will cost ya some money to do it correctly. What about a BLOG? I have no idea how to get one started. I do know that you'd need a way to censor the posts & it helps to have a person that can get the spam & sex ads off before it goes out for public viewing. Have you contacted Yahoo about it? What about Google? Hmmm, now you have me wanting to do some research of my own! Thanks.

A great idea! Geocities is a good site. A lot of my friends have a site through there. Me, I get around on here but I'm no whiz. maybe a blog? Don't think that costs anything.

I would love to open a chat room for us but I don't know how to do that... there is something on messenger that might allow this. I guess I will have to go check it out...
**********************************************************************
I managed to do just that ... last evening... and yes I received a violation notice before the room was closed .... and we were on yahoo messenger, I did send in an appeal but you know how that goes...
***************************************************************
Anyone with yahoo messenger can open a chat conference and invite whom ever they choose... no violations there! We had loads of fun. Hoping others will open chat rooms too. perhaps a different person each day ... that would be nice!

It was lovely, and I felt honored by all who showed up, and had fun with us. On the bad side, if there is one... you must show your real yahoo ID. and our little avatars couldn't join us which made it confusing for me!

There are a lot of choices that have nothing to do with Yahoo. MSN has some great chat groups to either join or start a new one. It is almost impossible to keep out the trouble makers though is what we are finding. Dual identities make it next to impossible to filter them out.

Because they STILL are attempting to make 360 the social sie of things. My thinking is they are trying to find a way to implement a combining of the two.... and make it an internationally accessible link. After they make sure they remain financially viable that is.
