Genetics from mother and father has something to do with it.
But everyone is different.

The tone comes from your throat size, mouth size, tongue and learned or inherited breathing or exaltation in vibrating
the voice box. Everything has some influence and one can learn to alter the tone, quality etc by going through acting or voice lessons. A singer, radio jock or actor might have a nice inherited voice but this has to be developed through lessons and practice.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://biturl.im/aULje

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

It's genetic, but genetic means a mix of both parents. One parent's voice may be more distinctive, though. I don't have my father's voice (sadly, he had a great singing voice) but people often said they couldn't tell my brother's telephone voice from mine.

I don't know the true answer to this, but i do know that you can condition your voice to change in many different ways. so i have to assume that it is made up of a combination of genetic and environmental influences.

everybody has got their own voice tone.. it depends on how strong your mother or father's voice is, it's like eyes, when people make kids and the mother has blue eyes and the father brown, brown will always overwhelm...

My sister sounds like my mom on the phone.
My brother doesn't know which sister is calling, until I say, "the cool one".

My sister's spouse cannot tell the difference between Mom, her and I when on the phone.
