I just bought a webcam. I went to hook it up, and my computer (windows 98 IBM) found the device. When I went to install it, it said "An error occured during installation of this device. The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance." Can someone please tell me (step by step) how I can fix this? I have no clue. I'm not a real techy person, so can someone please help?

Read the web cam Installation Disk (and packaging) very carefully. If it doesn't state specifically that Windows 98 drivers are included, that's your problem.

But, don't give up until you go to the web cam manufacturer's web site, the 98 drivers may still be available for free download.
