First off, as president, he would never be able to do this. It would take an act of congress, and congress would never do it. He is exploiting his own pipe-dreams for votes. Nothing he claims he can do, can he do. It would be a waste of time to have him in office, therefore, the mans name is moot, let alone his candidacy.

Gee, I read where something like 60 million vehicles, airplanes, trains, & busses, use fuel every day, in the U.S. alone. Sorry no link.
Now if they all average 10 gallons per day, {some Diesel trucks use about 100 gallons per day} That would be a very rough estimate of 600,000,000 gallons of fuel per day. The fuel tax varies from state to state, but let me give a low figure of 50 cents per gallon, for taxes included in the price at the pump.
My calculator says that's $300,000,000 million per day collected. In a 365 day year that would be $109 billion, $500 million dollars, {$109,500,000,000} evenly divided between the state highways and federal highways it comes out to $54 billion $750 million {$54,750,000,000.} that the governments are collecting per year.
That money is collected to maintain & build roads, in the USA.......But the article also went on to say the federal portion went into the federal general fund, which is used to pay all federal bills & expenses as they become due. {War expenses, S.S., help build the new 103 acre embassy in Baghdad, etc.}
Anyway, we need a guy like economist Ron Paul, to straighten out the monetary problems the USA is facing,,,,,,,by cutting government spending,,,in half!!!!
********************************************************
O.K. How will Ron Paul abolish the IRS?
Once he's elected president he will encourage the same group of Ron Paul supporters {millions of people} who got him elected to put EXTREME pressure on their elected officials to REPEAL the 16th Amendment!!!!
Now that wasn't too hard to figure out was it????

We currently have over 750 military bases around the world, and spend close to a trillion dollars a year to maintain that empire. Stop policing the world and use the military for what it was intended, to defend this country. We send 5 billion in foreign aid to Israel every year, and another 15 billion to the other arab countries. Not to mention the billions to the rest of the world. Put America first, and there will be plenty of money to balance the budget, even without the income tax

al.jedi, to answer this question, I would need to know if you know that 2/3rds of your Federal income taxes are wasted, and the other third goes to pay interest on money borrowed from the Federal Reserve (source, Grace Commision Report, Reagen era).
If you understand that, you must still understand that your property taxes in your state, along with gas tax, and state income tax, should be enough to provide the services needed that are inefficiently handled by the Federal Government. The Federal Government should be responsible for defense (strong military, but protect us, not other countries, and retaliation, not wars of aggression). The Federal Government still needs money for various things, even under a Ron Paul Presidency, but there is still a Corporate income tax. If we can cut spending, there would be no need for a Federal Income tax on America's actual citizens, even though we have given Corporations almost more rights than ourselves.
There wasn't an income tax until war was on the horizon, and then it was only certain levels of wage earners, and at 1 or 2%. They have taken total advantage of the fruits of your labor, and attempted to create a welfare or "nanny" state. There should be welfare, but it should be handled at the state level, perhaps with Government assistance (but that's my thought, not Ron Paul's).
His most pressing problems are the war, the economy, perhaps illegal immigration, and a mess of the balance of power in government. If you support Bush, and you accept the patriot act, or other egregious resolutions, what would one think of Hillary with that power? Everyone will turn on her then.

Gas taxes pay for roads, Property taxes for schools.....and were not fighting wars in europe and japan anymore, time to cut the fat from the military in places we don't belong, and we can defend our borders alot cheaper than someone elses.

If all the government did with my money was build schoold and roads and pay the military, I wouldn't have much of a problem. It's all the other things they waste my money on that I want stopped.

I like your assessment it's exactly what will happen. If anyone has been alive and followed politics for the last ten years should be aware of the political red tape in government. The only way the IRS could possibly be changed would be slowly and over a multi year period, maybe something like twenty! By that time we would be looking at another system, because everyone would have exploited the loop holes in Dr. Paul's new tax code.

great and i sure hope he wins and does just that. makes you wonder why they ever thought an income tax was needed in the first place.
go back to colonial days and concentrate on taxing imports and sales. never run a deficit. do roads built until the money is in the bank and then get some bids. make do and be responsible stewards of the public treasury. that is the way it is supposed to be. current whacko spendthrifts should swing on a rope. also, string up the lobbyists and diversity all media. break up the media power. consolidation was a very bad idea. while you are at it, walmart is also too consolidate and is clearly a monopoly. laws need to be enforced.

Ron Paul suggests that we rethink what the role of government is. Currently we need an income tax because we spend trillions of dollars being the worlds policeman, as well as on bloated Federal agencies, and on handouts to foreign countries, and payments on our National debt.
If we withdraw our military forces from other countries, scale down the military, and eliminate handouts to foreign countries we wouldn't need to collect an income tax. Additionally, Paul proposes that many Federal agencies such as the Department of Education are unnecessary. Instead the Federal government can simply allow the individual states to educate their own kids as they see fit.

Tarriffs, User Fees, Sales Taxes.
Oh and the states should take care of schools and roads using whatever taxes they want... that leaves soldiers.
There will be plenty, Liberals are just scared there wont be enough to steal afterwords.

As I understand it, aside from the national sales tax, which Paul hasn't officially included among his platforms, Paul aims to eliminate or greatly reduce many bureaucracies (NASA, FCC, FDA, etc.) and end the war in Iraq. This will save sufficient money to run a balanced budget.
