I'm 13 & in a wheelchair. my grandma has always dreamed of opening a resturant, she rented the building this morning. She always told me, "when i open a resturant you can help out there, and you'll get paid too." All my younger siblings are going to be waiters, during summer vacation, they'll get tips & a paycheck. Now my mom says i cant help out there because of my wheelchair, my grandma told me i could be a hostess or cashier. So what jobs could i do in the resturant, & also how can i show my mom that i can do them?

You can be a cashier. Tell your mother that you really want to be independent and that you can do anything. You will never know what you can and cannot do unless you try. Tell her that she of all people should believe in you and give you a chance. Honey, never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something. You can do it and if there is something that you cannot do that is alright. There are plenty of things that you can. Trying all of them will help you to figure out what it is that you can do. Good luck to you and prove the naysayers wrong.

You can be the hostess.
Sit on a tall chair behind a potieum(sp) and write down when people want to eat. Like the people at Chilie's, Outback, ect.
