TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran signed a multi-billion dollar deal with Malaysia on Wednesday to develop two offshore Iranian gas fields, boasting that the planned investment was the biggest ever in the country.

The mega deal comes in defiance of US pressure on European and Asian firms to reduce their business with Iran's oil and gas industries, which are in urgent need of foreign investment.

There is an odd sense that if you read foriegn news your a traitor - " I listen to good old American news" the implication being that if you even read a paper from another land - you'd become an instant terrorist

I find it an odd odd view esp now that the world is so available to me that I wouldn't read what the news is in Russia Iran China and so on -

I read the Israeli insider as well and at no point did I have the urge to give up pork Nor did I instantly advocate the use of chop sticks after reading Asia Times online

The above statements might seem rude - but they are not meant to be - they do seem to be at the heart of the issue for some Americans and Cdns who won't read those papers

Plus - plus plus -

No one really wants to read anymore - no time too frustrated too isolated from the powers that be etc It becomes a hard sell to people - Watch some comedy or take an hour to read this paper from a completely diferent perspective than your used to - and yes it might make you mad but read it anyway

The truth is that Parish Hilton is more fun to watch and nicer looking than any President or PM worldwide

I have the opinion that the truth is out there if you look for it

But other than frustrations upon frustrations I get very little out of my research - I must therefore be a masochist

The US is going to have at the very least an economic recesion from hell - the Cdn PM said looming economic collapse - Missed by the liberal media as well

Russia has been flexing it's arm as have the Chinese all serverely under reported

The EU is not all that behind Bush -

In short forget what they are telling you and look to what they are not telling you

I have, it is also interesting that The Iraqi Oil Ministry has stated intentions to honor the lease contracts made with Russia, and Asian nations that were signed before the war. This may be why Iraqi oil production has not resumed pre-war output.

Also not reported often by "the liberal media."

EDIT:captaino,
Thanks for the info, I missed this being reported in the US "liberal media."
Glad to see this.

If the media were as "liberal" as you believe, don't you think they would have jumped on this as another slap in the face to the Bush Administration? Guess not, huh?

I do look at worldly news as it is a necessity to understand what may come in the future for the United States. It distresses me to read about American banks and Corporations taking "infusions" of cash from other countries to deal with the current market crisis related to housing. It worries me that the trade deficit between what we import and what we export favors the other countries instead of our own. We no longer manufacture the goods that we buy...and this is going to come back one day and bite us in the ***. We should NEVER under any circumstances sell military equipment to any foreign nation...this too will come back and bite us in the butt as it already has.

But let us all remember those famous words of the greatest Conservative of our times : "Profit is not a dirty word"

It's more like the damage you, and guys like you do that lead to this kind of thing. You seem to want to side with Iran on all of this stuff as a direct result of your blind hatred of our President.

You want to take the side of a madman who opens each speech with a call for The End of Days, which means that he wants all of us DEAD.

You want to support an Iranian regeim that refuses to allow the 20,000 Iranian people of the Jewish faith to practice their religion, all because you can't seem to get beyond the fact that more electoral votes went to President Bush in 2000 than went to former VP Gore and it's blinded you to everything dispicable that this regeim has done.

You don't care that agent of the Iranian Government are killing our troops in Iraq.

You don't care that the Iranian Government has 'disappeared' an American businessman and refuses to tell his family where he is.

You don't care that they murder homosexuals.

You don't care that they take basic human rights away from women.

All you can think about is chastising President Bush and you know something, he's not perfect but he's done a pretty good job so far.

Do you actually think that it's a good idea to take pressure off Iran now?

Do you want them to have nuclear weapons.

Are you going to be proud of yourself when they set one off in Tel Aviv?

For that matter, given their human rights record, do you now want to align yourself with Malaysia?

WOW, you guys never cease to amaze me.

i'm hoping to examine the finished diatribe later, yet for now, products of it make experience to me. specific, all governments are hateful, and specific, peace could be a staggering element. i do no longer think of many human beings have self assurance that Iranians are undesirable human beings. maximum persons understand that it rather is in basic terms the government it rather is evil. we don't opt to pass to conflict with Iran. yet that would not advise that it's going to no longer ensue. Forgetting approximately previous conflicts is great if there's a clean way of appearing. the placement that maximum human beings have is that the hot government in Iran is the comparable using fact the previous government in Iran, and those anybody is risky. If Iran had a distinctive government, i think of human beings could thoroughly overlook with regard to the hostages in 1980. it quite is a protracted time in the past. yet we are additionally in touch that the comparable human beings run the government as took the hostages lower back then, so we don't have confidence them. we are at peace with Japan, however the eastern as quickly as killed 1000's of human beings. we are at peace with Germany in spite of a terrible history. we could desire to consistently be at peace with Iran, however the Iranian government maintains the comparable threats they did 25 years in the past. it rather is no longer the U.S. who's maximum to blame for the undesirable relatives.

too bad..the development of natural resources can't happen in our own country because of democrat/liberal obstructionist pandering to the Sierra Club whack-jobs the left is so endeared to..

the media is against any energy development..it keeps the papers void of polly-anna Chicken Little claims of energy resource depletion
