Forgiveness is a choice not a feeling. Unforgiveness is like a ball and chain. You can choose to forgive that person but you may not forget the offense. Have you ever offended or hurt anyone? If not, you are a saint. People make mistakes, big mistakes and some people never do learn from their mistakes, but don't be their victum. Holding resentment and the desire for revenge is only controlling you. By letting go of the offense is setting yourself free from the hold that offense can have on you.

I hold grudges for years until I finally just forget about them, but I usually don't forgive even when the person says they are sorry since the damage is already done.

Forgiveness means letting go of the anger you have for someone who wronged you. It doesn't mean you will forget about it. You just let go, and move on with your life.
