Is there an air washer on the market to clean the dust out of the air in a concrete home?

My mother in law has a concrete home and is looking for a air washer that she could use to clean up the air inside the house. She is not really wanting a purifier but a system that could wash the dust out of the air. Would a humidifier work for that purpose?

Your best bet would be to call around your location to the Heating and Air Specialist and ask them the same question.

Humidifiers only add water to the air, making the dust heavy meaning your dust way more often.
Some purifiers actually do remove dust from the air without costly filters that need to be replaced.

Not sure what she thinks an air washer is. She needs a something with a good filter. A humidifier will do nothing for the dust, it adds water, nothing more. There are several products under various names, air cleaner, air purifier, air treatment system, air filter. The ones with UV lights will cost more and the UV adds nothing in the way of removing dust. The ones with ionization don't work well unless you clean the collection grids very often (every couple of days). Some of the ionization ones, low cost, don't have collection grids. Those units simply cause the dust to stick to the walls and furniture. Get one that uses a HEPA filter. The filter will generally last several months to a couple of years.

The down side to any of these is they are limited in the area they clean. If she wants this to clean the whole house, she needs one that is part of the central heating system (HVAC)and I can't help alot there. One other thing though is to use a good filter in the HVAC system. Good luck.
