I actually don't think it's terrible. Far more problematic if you were considering naming SISTERS Chloe and Zoe, but not as big a deal when a child's name is similar to (but not the same as) a parent's.
She might, however, resent the misspelling. Especially since the names ARE obviously so similar, and you didn't mention your own being misspelled Chloey or something. In other words, since you obviously are familiar with spelling and pronunciation of the Greek "oe" blend, she might really dislike the fact that you chose to purposefully spell her name incorrectly -- giving it that nicknamey, juvenile "Joey" feel -- rather than doing her the same courtesy.
So Chloe with daughter Zoe? Not that bad. Chloe and Zoey? Definitely out of the question for me.

I don't think they are quite similar. I like both names. It would be fine to name a baby girl Zoey if your name is Chloe

I don't think that would matter. They are two different names, just with the same ending. A lot of names are like that, my cousin has 4 girls, all with different names but they all end in 'uh'. I don't think a daughter would be resentful for that. Besides, they are both nice names.

No, I think its fine. If you were naming your daughter Chloe then I would say that that isn't acceptable. Remember, she's a part of you--so maybe the similar endings represents that she's from you.
By the way, I adore the name Chloe, that's my oldest daughters name!

I don't see why. I know of a family where the mom is named Brenda, named her daughter Brandi who in turn named her son (Brenda's grandson) Brandon.
Many families name their first born son "Jr" or "II" after the dad - not very different from what you are asking about.
I think it's great to keep family names like that. In our family, the first born boys all have the same middle name (goes back 3 generations so far) and the first born girls all have the same middle name (goes back 5 generations so far).

I wouldn't be upset and I think it's acceptable as long as the rest of the family doesn't rhyme too. It gets annoying... In my family we have 4 people that's names end in the "ary" sound. When someone calls on the phone it's hard to figure out who they are calling for... It's really funny though to watch every head in the room turn when you yell the end of their name!

I don't believe that your child would resent you. I love the name Zoey.. It not very popular.. so I think you pick a good one. I think as long as your don't give her the same name it doesn't matter.

I think it's cute! And I don't think she'd resent you at all. You put alot of thought into her name, and you're giving her a name that resembles yours. I don't think it's any different than a father naming his son after himself (the whole Sr. and Jr. thing) I think that it's a great idea!
