I'm a Yankees fan and I consider myself very lucky. My team is always in contention for a title. But the Cubs havent won and never seem to win. What is that like? I'm also a Jets fan and I sometimes feel like I root for the Cubs. Is it anything like that?

I root for the Cubs every year, right behind the Cardinals.
I'm a baseball fan first, Cards fan second and Cubbies fan third. Don't really care how the rest come in.
The Cards and Cubs have always had a friendly rivalry.
So, if the Cards don't get there, I go for the Cubs.

I would say the same for just about every other team that you can cheer for. But denfily if you are a Chicago Cubs fan, you get your heart broken, even by the way the Chicago Cubs play, and by the way that the Chicago Cubs have not won the World Series for 100 years. And is the fact that it is going to be longer then that, but at least be glad that you are not a Chicago Cubs fan, idmange what that be like if the New York Yankees haven't won it that long. That is a long time.

I became a Cub fan in the spring of 1970. I was fortunate to miss the 69 season. There have not been many seasons since then where I expected the Cubs to win a World Series. In New York, you probably have thought the exact opposite. I really have been disappointed only a few times. Things have changed with the team and that's why I remain a fan... hope. Hope that someday they will win the series. So this year, expectations are high. Doesn't happen much around here. I'm also a Cleveland Brown fan! I've had to live through; the drive, the fumble, leaving town, the goat curse and Bartman.*

I am a Yankee nd Jet fan also i assume being a Jet fan is like being a Cub fan very frustrating

that playoff game against the Steelers when Doug Brian missed all those field goals was the 2nd worst sport moment of my life accually the Joba bug game is close to that (1st was the 2004 collapse against the Sox) nd we were that close to making the Super Bowl when Testiverde nd the Jets almost beat Elway's Broncos

Like rooting for potatoes.

If they ever win, they will lose their national standing as lovable losers. The wise ownership would see to it that they never actually get the title. Then they'll just be another team. The Pirates or the Royals would become the Cubs then.

You can't miss something you never had, and for Cubs fans alive today that would mean a championship. The day that they finally win one, and that day will come sooner rather than later, it will be that much sweeter for their great fans that have waited a lifetime for a championship.

I lived in the Chicagoland area (Mount Prospect) for three years and asked a coworker of mine that question...he said something to the effect of, "You don't go to a Cubs game for the Cubs...you go to enjoy Wrigley Field--the scenery is nice and the beer and hot dogs are really good--and sometimes you may notice that there's a ball game going on."
I think that about sums it up. :D

It's like getting a root canal. You know it's going to be painful;but you have to do it.And when it's over you convince yourself that it wasn't really that bad and the next time will be the best thing that ever happened to you.
