Yes. I did my Senior Thesis on the subject. Classical music, because it is so mathematical, helps stimulate the brain to learn. It uses both sides of the brain at once. The artistic and the logical side.
I did the same thing when I was pregnant, and now my 6 year old is incredibly smart. He has a genius level IQ, skipped a grade, and goes to the 4th grade class for reading and spelling. He's also a great artist.
Now....I'm not crediting that only to the music, but I do think it helped during critical development of his brain.
ADD: And for the record, there IS proof that music makes you smarter. And there IS proof that fetuses can hear and recognize sounds in the womb. I have on video, just after my son was born, how he completely recognized his dad's voice.
Do some research before posting falsities.

My husband and I are 80's hairband rock lovers. When I was pregnant, my daughter was most active when we played anthrax and motley crue. She still loves the music now and she is 2 years old. She can keep a steady beat and is learning to play the drums. And she is a very good talker and has been putting sentences together since she was 18 months old. We play classical music for her when she is in bed, but other than that, it is rock an roll all the time!!! I think any kind of music helps because all music has a beat and a pattern and that pattern is what the human mind craves. Keep up the good work and throw some Motley Crue in there every now and then. Rock on!

Classical music has been proven to help the development of the brain, and it's function. It's a very good idea to do it for one hour everyday. When the child is born, it will be able to make synaptic connections a lot sooner than it would normally be able to. Usually, a child's brain is finished developing by the age of 5, but classical music will help it finish a bit sooner, and with better connections for a more efficient thought process, and more learning ability.

I personally don't know how true it is, but they say the music your baby hears in the womb is related to his personality after birth. Letting him listen to classical music will supposedly make him smarter. Might as well try it, can't hurt, and if it does make him smarter then that's a good thing!

they say dont put earphones on your belly. imagine you're in the bath and your head in under water and you thump the side of the tub its loud! like seriously loud then take your head out and thump it and its hardly a sound at all. thats what its like for the baby inside you. its like living in a fish bowl. but no it really doesn't matter what you child listens to becuz it can't make the sounds out clearly anyway. sound can pass through liquid but its not clear.

Ehh I think it's all a matter of opinion for this one. So if you think it helps, it's not going to hurt to put earphones on your stomach. I guess you'll see in the future if it worked.

Saddly, it quite is in simple terms how at present's society is. childrens decide to take heed to what's regular, or although different song they relish listening too. it quite is in simple terms their opinion. I used to think of the comparable as you whilst i grow to be youthful, because of the fact i could no longer stand the indisputable fact that maximum of of my friends pay attention to what i presumed wasn't genuine song. I felt undesirable for them that they could no longer savor the song that I pay attention to. yet now I comprehend that my thinking grow to be somewhat stupid, because of the fact anybody is entitled to their own evaluations. in the journey that your chum listens to a minimum of one course and Mariah Carey (why she thinks Carey is a classical artist, i'm going to in no way be attentive to...), then it quite is her determination. you may attempt to introduce her to classical song, in case you rather need. or you may in simple terms shake your head in disapproval and alter the situation. And besides, i'm constructive that there are some childrens at your college who pay attention to classical song. perhaps you will hit upon a sort of babies in band or orchestra. Edit: My mistake, Bob.

I think this one is still up in the air. I can't hurt, so why not? Just make sure you limit it to one hour per day and keep the volume low.
