Obviously you haven't heard Ms. Bush speak. Her accent is often more pronounced than his. The difference may be in the fact that hers is what could be called High Texan and his Low Texan. Hers spoken by higher educated Texans his by less educated Texans. As a teacher and librarian Laura Bush would be expected to sound better than W. Anyway, listen more carefully when you hear her next and you will definately hear that Texas twang, the drawl. It won't be as obvious as that of her husband but it is there.

I've wondered that myself. Hillary has the black voice when occasion calls for it, (though we haven't heard it since Oprah entered the mix) yet Laura's voice has a consistant Texas drawl. Odd, isn't it?
