There are two reasons why ;;;

1.) They started to read and write at a late age

2.) English is their second language, and they are still kind of learning it

Because nobody has made them learn at school or at home. What a shame that there are so many people that only know text-speak, bad grammar and bad spelling. Who will write our next generation of literature? Who would be able to read it?

Uh...I don't know. What happened to the apostrophe in the word can't in your question. I think some of it may be that people taught to spell using the 'Whole Word' process have a more difficult time spelling than those taught phonics, you know breaking a word down and sounding out the various parts and linking them together.
