How do I get windows media player to recognize it?

Thanks for the answers but I think I need to explain. What I want to do is add the music to the media player library.

in WMP open up the external HDD and you should be able to play the music. you should also be able to make it scan the new HDD for new music.

Hi. If the music is in a format that WMP can use then just open from Windows Explorer. (It may not play iTunes files in the m4p format unless you convert them.)

If your files are saved in the right format(.wma) then when you click them it will open Media Player

If the drive is detected then windows would automatically detect it. You could play them directly in wmp then.
