I am going to stop my pill after this pack is up. How long after I stop will I begin to ovulate? My husband and I are going to try for a baby so I need to know when I am ovulating.

Quite possibly within two to three weeks of stopping the pill. With some women, it may be up to three months. Even if you ovulate right away, you may not get pregnant right away, it can take several months to get pregnant even for those who have never been on the pill.

Anyway, start taking a pre natal vitamin now to ensure that you have enough folic acid.

I think doctors tell women to use an alternate form of birth control for three months after stopping the pill, to make sure it is all out of their system before they try for a baby. But you could start ovulating as short as 2 to 3 weeks after going off the pill.

From an OB RN: You could possibly get pregnant the next month, however, understand that even under normal conditions, women do not ovulate every month when not on the pill, so don't get discouraged. If you haven't gotten pregnant in 3 months after off the pill, consult a doctor.

Birth control pills are very mild and you will ovulate before your next period. You should start taking a prenatal vitamin right away though as it's healthier.

I believe its different for everyone...My doctor told me it could be a few weeks, up to whenever! that you're able to ovulate again after getting off the pill. I'd just have sex whenever you wanted, see how it goes for about a month or so, then if you're not pregnant by then, then I'd talk to your doctor, and see what he/she says about conceiving after BC! GOOD LUCK to you and your Husband!!!!!

You need to talk to your doctor so that you can time your cycle more accurately. Ultimately, you could start ovulating as soon as the hormones are out of your system.
