i am looking for caves or caverns in either the lake arrowhead/big bear area of the SBNF or san jacinto/joshua tree part. someplace close to home where we can explore or something like that.

Sorry, no caverns in the LA and San Berdoo mountains. There are many old mining tunnels but they are incredibly dangerous! Not to be used for recreation at any time.

If you want to get into caving, I suggest contacting your area grotto (that's a caving club) with the NSS (that's the The National Speleological Society).


Cavers are wonderful people and will help you learn the correct, safe way to explore the underground. Get hooked up with them, you'll learn what to wear, how to survive and all you need to know about caving and conservation.
