I have tried everything. Jiggling it , turning the wheel, stepping on the brake too. It is a 2001 ford escort if anyone can help. Please.

Yes I put the key in. The key won't turn at all either.

Is the key in the ignition? If it is, you have to wiggle the wheel back and forth while trying to turn the key. The wheel will lock up if the key isn't in the ignition.

If the key is on and the steering wheel is still locked,
then your steering coulomb is damaged and you will need a mechanic to fix it.

I've seen them where they're really, really hard to turn ot of lock. If a big guy can't do it, I wouldn't take it apart if its got an air bag. If not, just take the "Ford" face off and knock the brass pin out.

put the key in the ignition, turn key. that should release the lock

as above....
place key in ignition..
turn to on position..(not start)
then rock steering wheel
should come free.
