You can use UBS devices while playing games. I have used several at once including my PDA sync/charger and I always use a chill pad when I play Sims2 so it doesn't over heat. I think that you should be fine with your ipod. I image that you would even be able to sync it or listen to music without noticing anything.

Yes just leave your iPod charging and then play your sims 2 game! Hah I'm also a fan. But if you have to many windows open on your computer than it will slow down unless you have a big hard drive with a lot of space then yeah you can charge and play at the same time.

If you're playing Sims on your computer...sure...they're two different devices. :D

Now, if you are referring to playing sims on you iPod (you can do that ?!), you may or may not be able to. Easiest way would be to check the literature that comes with to see if you can do anything whil the unit charges.
If you *are* able to play it on your iPod...since the unit charges in about 2-3 hours...watch some TV or a movie, read a book, have a nap, go out with some friends, help mom & dad clean-up from Christmas, etc...LOTS of things you can do that will keep you busy and not even aware that you aren't playing Sims. :D
