Vista/XP make no difference to the network. The wireless network is working just fine, The problem is with the new laptop.

Your router almost certainly uses encryption. Have you entered the encryption key in the new laptop?

You router may also use a feature called MAC address filtering. If it does, you must add the MAC address of the new laptop to the router.

> Open a command prompt (Start > Run > type in 'cmd' > Click OK)
> Type 'ping yahoo.com'
> This SHOULD return a couple lines starting with 'Reply from...' and then some other stats. If you get a reply, type 'ipconfig /flushdns' to clear your DNS cache and then try to browse again

> If the 'ping' comes back 'Request timed out', your wireless router is allowing you to connect to it, but it isn't giving you a connection to the internet
> In that case, I would pull the power from the router for a couple seconds to reboot it and then restart the laptop

If those steps don't work you may be having issues with a firewall, either local on the laptop, or on the router which are difficult to troubleshoot without knowing some more specifics.

I had a problem trying to connect my laptop. It turned out it was a problem with the code we typed in to connect it - the letters weren't meant to be in CAPS. Before it said it was connected, but not to the internet, and now it's fine.
Try it! :)

some sturdy concepts above. additionally, i like to commence with some easy issues to boot. have you ever rebooted all gadgets? in basic terms could desire to make useful. i've got considered the place some instantaneous routers want this periodically. How are you "connecting to the community" in case you won't be able to connect with the instantaneous gadget? you're able to desire to purchase new instantaneous card for computing gadget - if that fixes it than you be responsive to the place your situation grow to be, if it would not, return it (make certain you verify the shops "re-stocking" value agreements, return coverage, and so on.). Or, attempt to borrow from a chum or different computing gadget in case you have yet another card. As reported above, attempt to slender down what isn't working.
