Reach around to the back. There should be a small lever that you can raise.

There should be a lever behind and above the presser foot - (this is not something that you will see as you look at the front of the machine as it is on the back of the machine) , using your fingers on your left hand reach around the left side of the machine and locate a lever - raise the lever and the presser foot should lift as well. Good luck!!

I don't believe that you can raise the pressure foot any higher - You will either have to use a bigger machine or stitch it by hand. I usually have the same problem with sewing straps onto by motorcycle bags. You might want to try this: If you can get a rivet gun (Harbor Freight) for about $5 or $6 you can rivet the straps into the backpack - Sound a little crazy but some of the back pack makers have done the same thing. The rivets need to be about 1" long to go through all the material and you will also need a hole punch to create the holes for the rivet to fit through. If you experiment with other materials similar to the pack and strap - you will get the drift of how to do it right and easily. If you don't know how to use a rivet gun just go to Youtube and type in rivet guns. Lots of videos. I hope this has been a help.

You should have received a manual with your machine that explains all the features. You need to get to know your machine before you actually start sewing. If you don't have one, I'm giving you a link where you can check this out.
Scroll down to your make of machine.

Reach around to the back of your manchine with yoru left hand. Feel the back of your machine. You will find a lever that sticks out, Lift it up with your left hand. If you push it down, it will lower your ressure foot.
Look and the packaging see if there is a manual in it.
Hope this hellps! If you have any probems or ccannot find it, please email me.
Good luck!
