I dont understand this...

If sqrt x-a =b , x >a, which experssion is equivalent to x ?

b^2 -a

b^2+a

b-a

b+a


If you can,please explain why. Thank you.

Square both sides to get

x - a = b^2

Then add a to both sides to get

x = b^2 + a

(x - a)^1/2 = b
x - a = b²
x = b² + a

root(x-a) = b , then ,

x -a = b^2
x = a+b^2
