Chipmaker & James S. are correct.
The only real pitcher that overpowered batters and catchers was a minor league lefthander named Steve Dalkowski.
This guy was so wild batters didn't dare dig in. Never made it to the Majors.
He is sometimes called the fastest pitcher in baseball history and had a fastball that may have exceeded 100 mph (161 km/h). Some experts believe it went as fast as 110 mph (177 km/h). As no radar gun was used to time him, his fastball earned him the nickname "White Lightning".

back on April Fools day in 1985, Sports Illustrated ran an article that was intended to be a joke about a pitcher in the Mets system named Sidd Finch, who could throw 168MPH. For some reason, some people actually believed this article and were not happy to find out a few weeks later that it was all a hoax. You can read more about it at the link below

No. No such pitcher.

The closest notion would be fictional Mets prospect Sidd Finch, a creation of writer George Plympton, who was reportedly able to throw a fastball at least 168 mph. He didn't have any other pitches; he didn't need any.

Plympton got an April Fools article in Sports Illustrated out of the gag (1985), and it was so popular he later made a novel out of it. It's an entertaining read, worth a few bucks.

Every few years, SI tracks down the guy who posed as Sidd for the original article photos and publishes a very brief "update" about his life.
