I have a link that gives the list of fastest recorded pitches along with info about other possible candidates. Two leaders on this list are Mark Wohlers and Joel Zumaya both at 103.0. Nolan Ryan was clocked at 100.9. Nevertheless the site seems to be of the opinion that Steve Dalkowski was most likely the fastest pitcher in history and gives an explaination of why.

Aroldis Chapman recorded a pitch at one 0 five MPH in a alleviation visual appeal. you are able to say he doesen't count selection as an entire-time reliever through fact the Reds plan to flow him into the rotation. Joel Zumaya is on an completely distinctive point, even with the undeniable fact that he's often injured. Bard and Brian Wilson can throw fantastically stressful too.

it depends if you rely on Fox broadcasts for your MPH numbers. They regualry add 3-5 MPH to every pitch.

I agree that Zumaya is probably the hardest thrower today. Usually it's RP, because they can just let it rip and not have to save it for 6,7 innings. Nen, Wagner, Dibble were all guys that flirted over 100 (among others).

For Starting Pitchers, I'd have to say Ryan and Randy Johnson were the hardest of all time.

In recent years Billy Wagner and Joel Zumaya have topped the list but all time would be Nolan Ryan

HE was never clocked but the fastest has to be Walter Johnson.Ty Cobb said it looked like a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it went by.There is no way any body can even argue that he was'nt.Of course there will be some who will try,but before you do lookup his record how many days he pitched with no rest plus m ost of his carerer was spent with a second division team.Satchel Paigewas likely faster before he made the majors in 1948 at age 42.

Joel Zumaya. He is pretty consistantly 99-104 mph. Hopefully the shoulder surgery he is having won't hurt his power arm too much. Verlander can hit 101 as well.

This question is extremely hard to answer.

Personally I don't trust the gun in Detroit. It seems every year they roll out another guy that can throw 100+ (Matt Anderson, Verlander, Zumaya, *enter next player here*).

In my eyes, as far as throwing the heaviest ball, for the longest time, nobody touches Nolan Ryan.

the hardest throwing pitchers top out at about 103mph. Several pitchers are capable of throwing that hard but Joel Zumaya, on the Tigers, is at or near that number on a regular basis both at home and on the road. The first time he was clocked at 103mph was actually in Oakland and not Detroit.

It is thought the fastest pitcher ever was little known Oriole Steve Dalkowski. It is believed he threw 110MPH. The highest speed ever recorded on a radar gun was posted by Nolan Ryan.
