Obviously no one reads their ENTIRE divorce decrees. Yes it is possible for you to petition the court for spousal support. Where it states that you are not (at the time the paperwork was drawn up) elligible for spousal support, it also states that if at a later date you become incompassitated or disabled and can not work, you CAN petition for spousal support. The court will look at the situation and determine whether you are entitled or not. It can't hurt to try.

Only if the court reserved jurisdiction over the matter of spousal support. In those cases, the paying spouse is usually required to pay $1.00 a year to keep the issue open to modification later. But if spousal support was not granted at all during the divorce, it may not be reopened later (at least here in California).

After a divorce is finalized, the ex cannot later demand spousal support if none was granted originally.

No. The time to ask has passed. Once a divorce is finalized you cannot request spousal support.

The divorce terms are final?

Unless their are kids involved I'm pretty sure it's over.

you can try to get it, but chances are, it won't be granted. they'll think you're just trying to get the money for the wrong reasons. you're better off not wasting your time and money.
