It is a 2003, 3.4 liter. It is running rough too. Maybe a fuel injector?

Anytime the check engine light blinks it is serious. It means there is a misfire in one or more cylinders. A scan-tool (I do not know if a code reader will give misfire data) will have a section for misfire data. It will tell you which cylinder is/are at fault. It will give you current data and also a history of misfire data. This will help narrow down to the cylinder. Then the technician or yourself will have to determine if it is spark or fuel related. Since you are going over 30mph, my "guess" would be spark related, just a guess tho.

Hard to say without a trouble code, but many times bad fuel, or water in the fuel will cause this misfire. Try some alcohol in the gas tank, about one pint of 91% rubbing alcohol should do it for a twenty gallon tank. This will help dissolve the water so it will mix with the gas and pass through the injectors. Depending on miles and time since the last tune up, that may necessary, but usually bad plugs or wires wil show up as a trouble code. A local dependable garage or dealer is best source of information and work. The nearest Auto Zone will read the computor for free. Would the jerk that gave the thumbs down please explain the reason? My family has been in the automotive repair business since the 1920's, and my husband since the middle thirties. There is no false information here and in fact, a lot thas been proven through many years of experience. Our e-mail is available, unlike some.

Sounds like you have a misfire as you've stated. Your best bet is to take it to a reputable repair facility so they can do a diagnostic on the vehicle. They will be able to run many tests and determine the source of the misfire rather than you just guessing at it changing many parts that aren't bad costing you money.

Could be several different things. Once my check engine light came on I had a hose that came loose on top of the gas tank. Car still ran but not efficiently.

Take it in have the computer checked.

Go to a shop and they can hood a tester to your ODB2 slot and check out what is wrong, it could be a lot of different things, the check engine light is very ambiguous in its meaning.

More then likely your engine has already thrown a code. This is very characteristic of the oxygen sensor(s) needing to be replaced. good luck

Take it to an auto parts store that does free code checks and find out. It may be nothing, or may be something serious.

My car was doing that when the car was changing gears ( automatic) and unfortunately it was the transmission.
