The other day I finally decided to switch from pads to tampons! I had tried putting tampons in before but they hurt so obviously I put them in wrong. So I figured I've been on my period for a about 3 years now so I should try tampons and read the directions carefully.Well the first time i tried I did it successfully! Then that same day I changed it about 4 hours later and put my second tampon on and it didn't feel much differnt than the first time I put one in earlier that day. But a few hours later I started feeling dizzy and light headed.I was in the car on the way to my grandmas when it started getting bad so I thought It might of been car sickness, but then we walked in and the lights hurt my head and I felt like I was going to pass out! I decided to take it out because I knew that wasn't supoosed to happen and almost imediatly when I took it out I felt better! What's going on please help me!!!

I'm sorry you felt bad, but I don't think it was due to your tampon. If I'm not mistaken, one of the first signs of TSS is a sudden and high fever. TSS is also fairly rare now and I don't think you would have felt better immediately after removing the tampon, because that would not have cleared up the infection. (TSS is a bacterial infection.)

Maybe it was a more psychological thing. You were having cramps and then once you took your tampon out you were thinking it would help so you started feeling better. Stuff like that happens all the time when girls are on their periods. Lots of the cramps can go away if you just think they will.

if you are going to use tampons, you must change them at least every two hours, or you increase your risk of TSS...however what you describe was not TSS, nor was it related to your tampon at all. Probably when you sat down to remove the tampon you felt better because you stabilized your blood pressure, I will wager you were dehydrated, your symptoms are classic for inadequate fluid intake.

That was not TSS because you would still feel sick even though the tampon was taken out. I have no idea what it could have been though.

If you get tss once, then your more likely to get it again.

Stick to pads or use pads at night.
