Think he took a hometown discount to keep money freed up for Zets and others to keep the team strong?

Wings are 5 mil under cap this year, a few more mil freed up next year when Hasek leaves!

Yes, he is at 7 mil now, I myself figure it to be close to the same thing. Zets will take about 3 mil a year of the 5 mil they have existing(when added to his current contract). So leaves them 2 plus Haseks expiring contract next year. They also need to resign OZZY next yr, but he will definately take a hometown discount.

Sorry HASSAN, maybe its because I see so damn many mistakes in English on here that I just pick the stuff up. Maybe I need to go back to 3rd grade! Might help.

Im guessing its the same as his last deal @ $7.6 million per year.
Since someone brought up Zetterberg, I'll throw in my guess for him too. He told a Swedish newspaper this summer that he would sign a lifetime contract with the Wings if they offered it. It has already been said that he will take the "C" after Lidstrom retires. He is obviously happy with the team, so I think he'll take a discount. Datsyuk signed for $6.7 per year, so I think Z will get $7.2 million per year for 6 years.
Edit: Strike what I just said. I just read that he agreed to a paycut, so Im saying $7 million a year.

I grew up in a very small town and High School was were all the activity was except for getting drunk and making out. I even did some of that at school. LOL It's hard to believe I survived High School and I was an "A" Student. School is were Girls were and were I played Football so I had a blast. It didn't hurt that by the time I started High school my Dad had quit drinking (He was one of the worst alcoholics I have ever seen) . Mom was still a pain but Dad and I became best friends, So I guess my view of my High school years is a little biased. The School Dances were big events in a small town that had one movie theater with just one screen, no fast food restaurants and no malls. We didn't get Rock Concerts coming within 150 miles so I didn't see my first Live Concert until I went away to college unless you count local bands playing at the Dances.

This was a "no brainer". I expect he is making between 7-8 mil. He could have commanded at least 9 mil in free agency.
Lets not forget that the cap will increase again next year. That should give us another 4 million.

No need to guess, Holland just released the figures to TSN in Canada, The deal is for two years at 14.9MM
$7.50 MM next year (2008-2009)
$7.40 MM in 2009-2010
Not much of a paycut.
Also, don't be so quick to write off Hasek for next year, Holland has already stated many times that he will be sitting down with Hasek after the playoffs to discuss next year.

I think that sounds about right. Glad to know Liddy is solid. Drapes also just signed an extension this year taking a discount to help out the team. He also said Detroit is home and he has every intention of staying.
Go Wings!!

I would figure he would go for around 7 million a year. Zetterburg, has a payday coming up, Jimmy Howard, still may not be the goalie of the future. Things will still be changing a little. I think 7 mill, is fair, and keep cash available, for some other options, if needed.

2 years at ~$15MM would be my guess...
Apologies to Crosby and Thornton, but based on the last 5 years - Lidstrom is the best player in the NHL (4 Norris Trophies)... he deserves every penny he gets.

You spelled "definitely" wrong. Why does everyone want to put an "a" in that word?
My guess on the figures is a figure 8.
Thank you.

most likely 6.5 to 7 mill a year.
Good move by the wings to lock him up so free agency isn't even a question.

Gee, I thought he signed an extension a while back, it must have just been talked about. It will probably be about the same as he makes now-7.6 million. It will also probably be his last contract.
