the whole russia/iran thing. iran is undisputably the headquarters for terrorism in our world. russia has their own issues with terror. (and i'm only referring to what news gets out of russia, if you get my drift.)

so here's the question:
why in the world would russia want to get in bed with iran?

Putin is Time's Person of the Year. Lots of interesting things in that magazine that can help you make sense of your question.

From what I understand, Russia wants first and foremost to counter American's power and influence. (We are seen more and more as a bully and this is not good to a country that is just becoming stable and trying to get back to fundamental values----whether they are good or bad.)

Russia is independent above all else. I don't really see them 'in bed' with Iran. Russia already has more nuclear weapons than any other country (yes, even us I think)--- Check with the Time magazine who reported this.

I was asking myself the same question. This is the only conclusion I could come up with.
America backed the Afghan Army during the Russian invasion in the 1980's. we did not send soldiers, only equipment. We also got to test some of our new equipment in combat, without the loss of our own people.
So, maybe Russia is trying to do the same thing by equipping our potential adversaries.

power. GWB has been running roughshod where ever he pleases, so Putin took a position that is in opposition to him, reasserting the might of Russia as a world power, equal to the US.
