No I look up to them. You have to remember that alot of the goods we use in the west were originally invented in China. Without the Chinese the world would be a whole lot different.
As for being polite, as with every race you find polite Chinese and not so polite. It's called being human.

I'm not sure what you are asking. Chinese people can be good, bad, and in between. Excessive politeness is a cultural value. Pearl S. Buck has written some interesting books about the Chinese.

Why asking specifically about Chinese people. Why would any body look down on any person. No matter what nation you get the polite one's and the very rude one's.
The only time I look down on a person is if I am taller.

I have 2 chinese friends.
One I went to school with since the 6th grade. He's the smartest person that I've ever met and made Valedictorian. He's really nice and just a really cool guy.
The other is my Assistant Manager and he's like 20 years old. I've never met any one like him before. He's so polite and businesslike. The way he talks scares me sometimes because he's really good with words.
I've only met like 4 Chinese people so far and all have been extremely nice, but either way it just depends on who you meet. Plus the ones I've met live here in America. For the ones that live in China - I have no idea.

Nope, my step-dad is half korean. I don't look down on anyone, diversity is a wonderful thing and I love meeting and learning about people from other parts of the world. Whites, Blacks, Asians, Mexicans. No matter what race, there are good polite people, and there are bad unpolite people. So I guess there are polite Chinese people.

You mean.. down "on" Chinese people?
The ones I've met are very polite. They like to have fun.
I think some Chinese are uncomfortable around Japanese, however, and vice versa. I think this is from centuries of wars and misunderstandings.
Peace to all.

I can't really. I'm Chinese, and if I did, I would have one heck of a self-hating complex.
Considering the POV I would say they're the most wonderful people of all ;-).
And we're polite to, if you're polite to us in the first place.
(and yes I have read some of the previous comments. Not nice at all ...)

The Chinese people I know and have worked with have deserved my respect. They were polite and well mannered. Remember Americans have the international reputation for being the least polite people on earth.

Depends on what you mean by polite. Different cultures have different polite behaviors, and it may seem less than polite outside that culture, or it may appear more polite than what we are used to outside the culture in question.
I don't look down on Chinese people, or Chinese culture--two different things, really, isn't it?
