I have just got a new dell latitude laptop with vista installed. i plugged it into the home router and went online. i can access some websites fine (eg www.bbc.co.uk, www.msn.co.uk) but others don't work (eg www.google.co.uk or any google address & i can't access my hotmail account).
my old pc on the same home network can still access all websites with no problems today.
thanks for any help.

Further detail: I have tried turning off Protection in Internet Options and reducing security level to Medium (the lowest possible). It still won't load google or microsoft.com pages (you get DNS lookup failure or "Internet Explorer cannot open the web page". It slowly loads yahoo uk but fails on the Answers link. Thanks

Go into your internet properties and set the security to medium or low medium.

Are you trying to access these sites from work or a school account? Sometimes they block yahoo and google due to the fact they dont like ppl having access to outside mail.

Also something could be stuck in your cacheing. Try to pull up google by using the IP : 64.233.167.99 , just type that into the address field and see if it comes up, if so youve got a corrupted TCP/IP stack and it needs to be reapaired.

Maybe you've set up your protection and it blocked off some websites.
