Hi, ive been wondering about getting an ipod classic (80gb), but it doesnt seem to come with a dock. Do you actually need one to charge it? If you do need that or an adapter can anyone recommend where to get one cheap?

Thanks

Hi Hope your well.

Well to be honest personal preference, your ipod will still function as it should without the use of a dock. You dont actually need one to charge your ipod. But if you would like one id get one.
There are many advantages with the dock, like you can remotely watch videos, photos, and listen to music through your Television with addtional component and line cables.

Just another accesssory to link to other multimedia devices.

If you have it in your bedroom linked to a hifi looks slick.

The only difference is that you have it standing up without getting it scuffed on anything.

You dont need to buy any adaptors for the universal dock as you will have it in your original box. There around £20-£30, buy from apple. Your not saving much if you buy it from somewhere else.

The dock only acts as a stand for it, at the end of day its a USB cable with a stand. The cable does exactly the same thing.

No you do not need a dock, but a dock would help charging your ipod easy-free.
There's other ways to charge an ipod, but the easiest and cheapest way is to connect the USB cord (the white cord that COMES with your ipod purchase) into your computer/laptop and into your ipod as well.

No, the charging cable comes with the iPod. This cable connects to your computer, via USB, but if you want an AC power supply those are readily available.
