Im trying to put itunes on my external hardrive. Will I be able to put it on there

yes you can put and run anything from an external hard drive

Yes, though that same installation of iTunes on the external drive likely will not work if connected to a different computer.

Depends on what you mean by "put".

If you uninstall a program, then re-install it specifying install on the external hard drive, then YES. And there is no reason why it won't work.

If, however, you have some other means of "putting" it on the external, then I doubt it.

Yes, you can, but it defeats the primary purpose of using an external hard drive. They are intended to be used to "back up" (Synchronize?) your personal data.

So, save all important and irreplaceable personal files there, but install all programs to the internal hard drive.

TIP: Even external hard drives fail. Back up to CD / DVD, too.

yes, only thing is itunes wont work if the hard drive is unplugged until you plug it back in. and you can't use it on other computers because most installers configure windows so they can work correctly with the system.
