YOU CAN'T be friends with everyone. Sometimes I have started to befriend someone then realised that we have nothing in common etc. I am not actively mean to them, I just back off. I find clingy, demanding people hard to be with so I do this if I find this is the case. But you never need to be mean, just avoid and don't offer any more friendship.

Yes, absolutely..........People may want to be your friend for a variety of reasons, and I'm the kind of person who is always curious about the "why's" of every situation.
I'm a very loving and open person, I'm also very generous, and a free spirit. I've had a fair amount of people cuddle up to me (in a manner of speaking) and then take advantage of me. I used to be really hurt by this, and some times really angered.
Now, I'm neither, because I pay more attention to the quality of people who try to befriend me, and although I welcome every person into my life, there are few I truly take in as friends, the kind you trust with secrets and hold dear to your heart.......of course I never insult anyone by excluding them and saying that I would never be their friend.
I just simply have a line I don't cross with some people.
The older you get, the better your instincts become.
If your gut tells you that there is just something not right, or that the person just doesn't seem to have your best interest at heart, your gut is right.
Choose your friends wisely.
When I was younger I thought I had 100 friends, but in the end if you end up with 2, 3, or maybe even 4 people you can call "friend", true friend, the kind you would trust your life's secrets with you will be a lucky and wise individual indeed.

If they had been good friends before, done some selfish act that hurt me personally, and had failed to apologize. Even after I had decided to accept a sincere apology, and had patiently waited for one, thinking that, in time, this friend would realise what they had done. But since none ever came, meaning that this person didn't care enough, I then came to the conclusion that this person meant much less to me than before. So realising this in itself was enough to take most of the hurt away, and gave me better ways to deal with new potential friendships. It's never easy.....

Not really, I try to be friends with everyone, until they give me a reason not to. Then I may end the friendship.

Nah..I'm a friendly sort of dude. Even if I don't like someone I try to reach them on their level. Sounds good in theory..harder to practice. Actually come to think of it. I might start making some kick a r s e enemies. Yeh why not. You only live once right!?

No. A person would have to be crazy to refuse someone's friendship.

Take friendship? No, not really. There are several cases where I just couldn't return it, though.

My ex. I just couldn't stand the idea of just being friends. I think I can be friends with him now though. I am just not sure if he is interested anymore.
But uh, with other people... I am actually quite friendly and don't mind making new friends, and don't reject them unless they do something nasty to me or to one of my friends. Or I just don't like them for whatever reason...
