Christmas?
New Years?
Or later?

My family always took it down day after Christmas and my husbands family likes to keep it up until AFTER New Years. We have an argument about it every year. And our tree was put up December 5th(and yes, it's still very healthy).

Take it down after New Year's Day and no later than January 6th. I mean, after a day of fun you do need to take some time to chill out, and it's still considered the Christmas season for another 11 days. In fact, in some places, you have to wait till January 6th to open gifts because that's when the wise men gave their gifts to Christ upon arriving in Bethlehem.

But make sure you get rid of it before it gets dry and crusty. That's when the fire hazards really ripen.

The traditional way of the Christmas tree going up and coming down is after Thanksgiving and before Christmas, it goes up and being that the holidays is officially over after the New Year comes in then that is when the tree comes down. Traditionally, the day after New Year.

I started putting away Christmas decorations last night. I will be taking down my tree today. When I was young my family always left it up until New Years day.

I wouldn't take it down. The christmas season isn't over until the 6th of january, so why take it down early?
you spent all that time working on the tree and good tidings with your family, you deserve a little reminder of the season.

just dont be like one of those crazy families that keep their christmas tree up until july.
