Take a walk outside...even if its freezing cold. Get some sunshine into your eyes. The exercise and the sunshine help A LOT!!
A few other things that might help:
* Make a list of friends and family to call, and then start going down the list and calling people to just check in and say "Hi."
* Find a way to meet up with some people and spend some time hanging out with friendly people who have a gentle sense of humor.
* Make a wellness plan for 2008...include a plan for healthy eating, and a plan for daily exercises. Also, plan for times when you will meet up with others several times a week.
* Take up something new and different, or renew your participation in an old sport of interest: golf, tae kwon do, yoga, horseback riding, bicycle riding, swimming, dog-walking, tossing the football or baseball with a buddy...
* Sign up for a class with your local recreation department...to check out if you might like to take on a new hobby-like activity...wood shop, pottery, cooking, gardening.. It also gets you out of the house and connected with others.
* Go to a church and check out what kind of activities they have going on...you might like to participate.

Good luck, and God bless.

Extending the season a month wouldn't cure the blues....just postpone them a month.

You can start extending the Christmas season yourself by celebrating "3 kings" like ppl in Mexico. The Greek Orthodox church celebrates Christmas in January. I myself play Christmas carols after the New Year. I like the medieval Christmas carols because they celebrate Christmas, but don't sound like modern day songs. If you play "jingle bells" in the middle of January, ppl will look at you funny. But many ppl won't recognize the ancient Christmas songs.

If they extend it another month you will have gotten your credit card bills from the first month. That is the most depressing thing that is possible so your blues would be even worse.
