I'm trying to exchange a damaged product for a new one, but I don't have the receipt. I either want to exchange it right there or at least get the receipt so I can verify that I'm within the product's warranty date. I've heard that Wal Mart can look up old receipts and give you a new one. Is this true? I paid with a check. What can I do? The employee that I called at the service desk said they can't,, but it doesn't sound too much like any of the employees really know their stuff.

Yes actually they CAN look up the receipt!! All of the major store chains have a computer system that allows you to look up past purchases...hopefully you remember when abouts you bought it, and maybe what time too. Whoever told you they can't are lying, and not to mention lazy. Go over their head and talk to supervisor. They can give you store credit as well. It will still come out of your checking account, but you will get the money back (without receipt) as credit for Walmart.

I have never had a "greeter" at WAL MART check a receipt. Now I have had a service person at SAM'S check the receipt upon leaving and the reason they draw the marker through the receipt is so that if you return something, they know you paid for it. (i.e. you could make a purchase on Monday. On Tuesday you could return to the store, pick up the same item off the rack and with the receipt, go to the return desk and get a refund for it).

I have called today several times after each time I press "1" and then "4" to get a duplicate receipt and it tells me the wait time is over 5 minutes. I wait and then the recording says call back at another time and disconnects me! Seriously, you let some keep waiting and then hang up on them. I called the store which the recording tells you to do also if you need the receipt quickly. The store tells me they need to know the time and register I was on. The 479 number says you need you credit card #, date of purchase and amount. Seriously, if they are going to provide this service can they make it a little less frustrating for the customer.

I have to get one as well. I bought a prepaid phone that worked fine for a month so I trashed the receipts. Why not. Phone works great. THEN PHONE SERVICE STOPPED AND THE PROVIDER CLAIMS their system showed the phone was returned to WalMart. WTH! I STILL HAVE THE PHONE. Craziest thing ever. Now I need a reprint of a reciept and everyday the phone that was supposedly returned is losing days out of my 3 months of prepaid service days. Uuugh!!

Yes, Wal-Mart has a receipt hot line. You can call this hot line with the information needed to find the receipt. Debit/credit card, date of purchase, amount and store location. The hot line number is 479-277-2647. You can also call the store where you made the purchase and ask for the cash office. Give them the same information and they will find the receipt. Thanks!

The number listed above is incorrect. That number takes you to an area that is not able to help. Looking at another link in my search, I found this:
Walmart Electronics Payment Hotline 479-277-2643
