You see most people outside the US think that Bush actually was behind the 9/11 attacks..
To create an excuse to invade Afghanistan and hence, facilitate the Caspian Oil Pipline (underway now) and to control Iraqi Oil (done)..Next is Iran..
I'm surprised that there is so much support for Bush and lack of info about the True picture..
We are aware in EU that US is has some kind of Govt controlled media censorship...But this is shocking and disturbing

There might not have been a 9/11 if Gore had been in office.
Unlike the blithering traitor we have in office now, Gore would have made an effort to talk to the people on the other side.

I would think so; absolutely.
There are still a lot of lingering questions about 9/11. Especially why the Bush administration invaded Iraq instead of searching out al Queda. I always wonder why more hasn't been said about the Bush activities surrounding this event. Are the Democrats afraid of something?
I am thinking that the war in Iraq would not have happened but the war in Afghanistan would not unless, of course, 9/11 would only have happened under the Bush administration.
Environmental treaties would have pushed forward dramatically.
One environmental insanity that is ongoing under the Bush administration is the use of depleted uranium in the bombs used in Iraq would not be happening. Nuclear fallout without nuclear bombs.

The use of nuclear material in weapons should be considered a war crime. Crimes Against Humanity

What we know:
Bush ignored warnings from the intelligence community as well as from the outgoing Clinton administration about terrorism, Al Queda and OBL.
The attacks on 9/11 could not have been nearly as horrific if not for the either incompetence or cooperation of the White House.
Many of the individuals and corporations that are profiting from the invasion and occupation of Iraq are close Bush family friends or lobbyists.
At least part of the reason we were ever involved in the Middle East is that we are dependant on oil and we have already or soon will hit peak oil.
Therefore, if Al Gore were President (as he was elected), 9/11 probably wouldn't have happened, but if it did, we would have had much less reason to waste lives and money in an illegal occupation of an innocent, sovereign nation. We would most likely have much better respect in the international community. Best of all, without the current adminstration to keep reminding us to be scared, we would be happier. Finally, Gore would not have illegally wiretapped American citizens or allowed torture to take place in our name.
In short, the world would be a much better and safer place today.

Definitely.
He would have had the leadership and wisdom necessary to fight the real fights and not stupidly blunder into a war that has done nothing but help Al Qaeda as the fool Bush has.
He would not have delegated the capture of Bin Laden to Afghan warlords as Bush did at Tora Bora either.
To summarize, there is a good chance he would've prevented 9/11, and he certainly would have captured or killed the main perpetrator. Bush on the other hand, says that OBL is no longer a priority.

Al Gore as President. Let's see...we would have a great reduction in Global Warming...True Universal Health Care...an increase in alternative energy usage...fuel efficient cars...and...oh yeah...9/11 would never have happened...no one (regardless of who was ACTUALLY responsible for it) would have felt it necessary...so yeah...given the choices...we would have been MUCH better of with Gore as president (Although Tipper is a bit too much of a prude for my tastes but then...well...so is 99% of the world population)

Al Gore is not a moron. He won the Nobel Peace Prize (and that is a legitimate prize--I can't think of any past winners we would call 'idiots') He won an Emmy for "An Inconvenient Truth"--a documentary which, even if you don't agree with it or like it, was undeniably well done and well-researched.
I don't know about other issues, but I think that, had Gore been elected, our country would be a much healthier place environmentally--which would, of course, have influenced a number of other political issues.

The world could be worse. We could have still had 9/11 and perhaps other attacks as well costing more lives than what has been lost in Iraq with Gore doing nothing to prevent another one.
*edit*
Funny how people give this a thumbs down. This person posed a 'what if' question. There is nothing that says the world would be better! There is a possibility that the world could be in a worse situation, or about the same. I just don't think Gore had the ability to do anything about, well, anything. Also if the rest of the world thinks Bush did 9/11, then the world's press is even more biased than the US press. Just a truth, and people say there is nothing about this Anti-American attitude in the world, HA!

Lets first say it is not a BOGUS WAR in Afghanistan. They harbored the criminal that MURDERED over 3,000 people.
The reason for 9/11 was because Bill Clinton's administration (Gore was the #2 Man) did nothing in response to the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole as stated by bin - Laden himself.
I don't think the Iraq War would be taking place. Gore loves the U.N.
As for the Enviroment it is easy to say all this things when you are on the outside looking in. We need energy to be the Super Power we are. Where is that going to come from. Yes Bush is in Bed with Big U.S. Oil and the Saudis But it is up to U.S. Businesses to find the solution not Big Government.
If Gore would have presented himself as he does now instead of the wooden Indian he was he would have won. Carrying his own state might have helped.
We need a 3rd choice

It's impossible to say what would have happened if Al Gore had become our President. I think that his experience in the White House may have helped him to actually act on the intelligence reports about the U.S. being in immanent danger of a terrorist attack. But even if 9/11 would have happened exactly as it did, I seriously doubt Al Gore would have used it as a reason to invade Iraq. In all likely-hood he probably would have kept his focus on the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. If he did anything with Iraq it probably would have been along the lines of Clinton's bombings of the Country.
With the mess that George Bush created, I think that Al Gore would have done much better. The 9/11 attacks may not have been avoided, but the strategy to retaliate would have likely been much better since Bush's strategy was about as bad as it can get.
As far as environmental change, I think that Al Gore would have provided a much more powerful voice to help move the world to less pollution, even though the Republican Congress would have blocked every attempt he made to make any real changes in the United States.

It's hard to say what things would have been like. I think that if we were attacked on his watch he would have done things differently. Whereas he had no grudge against Iraq I doubt he would have invaded them. Also, I hope he wouldn't have shutdown the FBI investigations into the middle eastern pilot trainees that were more interested in flying than landing. that,in itself, may have prevented the tower attacks. If the Al Gore of today is an indication of what he would have done, then the whole middle east issue might have been moot. It is quite likely that he would have pushed alternative energies thereby freeing us from our finite oil addiction and subsequent slavery to OPEC.
