The issue of global warming seems far less scientific than political to conservatives.

It is rigidly predictable. - the more politically conservative a person is, the more fiercely they deny global warming.

Can anyone explain why?

I'n not interested in debating whether or not global warming is real with this question.

What I want to know is why do conservatives (with some exceptions, of course) feel as a group that they must deny global warming?

I am politically conservative, and I know there is global warming. So I can't explain it.

I don't deny global warming, only that it's being caused by white male American conservatives!

The reason so much resistance is coming from the right is due to the fact that the science behind the scam is weak at best and an outright fabrication at the worst.

After billions of years of global evolution, including SEVERAL very warm and very cold phases, the idea that one subspecies, in just 75 years or so will accidentally destroy the whole planet is the epitome of arrogance!

We've cleaned up more messes than we've made and there's EPA reports that go back almost 30 years that show the enormous progress we've made in CLEANING UP our atmosphere!

Man and technology ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for the changes we see here. Do the research! Temperature increases cause greater CO2 in the atmosphere, not the other way around!

The biggest source of CO2 in the atmosphere is water vapor. The biggest source of water vapor is sunlight on sea water. The second largest source of water vapor in the atmosphere is natural exchange with jungles (read rainforests) which the same environmentalist meatheads insist we need to save from successful male capitolists as well!!!

There is a definate and predictable pattern here. Just a little intellectual honesty will guide you to it.

Any questions???

Well, if you want to sterotype people, then explain to me why the more liberal a person is, the more fiercely a person defends global warming.

BTW, I am not hell-bent on denying global warming, simply hell-bent on waiting to see actual data that proves the connection between man and the very small amount of global warming that we have recently experienced.

I have confidence that regardless of the problem, if we truly created it in approximately 100 years, then we can solve it. Before we go out and spend billions of dollars, let's get to the point where we can actually determine what is the best way to solve it.

Why are liberals so hell bent on lying about the conservatives all of the time? Don't even try to say they don't. This is one conservative that knows the "Global Warming" or in my day we called it the Tropical Age that comes after every Ice Age. It's a natural thing so if you don't mind, stop lying about conservatives.

And liberals wonder why conservatives go off on liberals when liberals lie so much.

We don't deny the existence of global warming, we just don't understand why everyone wants to blame human beings considering the lack of data. You do realize the Earth has had catastrophic climate changes before the existence of humans? The Earth has undergone at least one Ice-Age that was not caused by humans. Are humans that pompous and arrogant to think we can have such a dramatic effect on the Earth in the relativley short time period since the Industrial Revolution? Look, I'm not saying we should waste energy, dump trash in the rivers and pollute the Earth. I'm just saying the alarmist attitude that Al Gore has created (flying around the Earth in his private jet) is doing more of a disservice to the issue than helping it.

We don't deny that the globe is warming, a whole degree in one hundred years. We do take issue with the "fact" that it is man-made and we could have done or could do anything to stop it. The greatest influencer in our climate is the Sun and it's temperature has increased over the last hundred years, also. Do you see a correlation? Or are you blinded by your psuedo-science? There is no hard evidence proving that CO2 can or has caused this increase but there is substantial data supporting the idea that it has nothing whatsoever to do with it. But you "Global Warming" enthusiast continue to ignore this. And to that one answerer that said there is no money in it, you have to be blind and stupid to believe that. Al Gore is making bank on this stupid topic and so are millions of others.

I disagree. I think that conservatives will for the most part agree that there is global warming. What they deny is that we have any real control over this natural cyclical event.
We conservatives refuse to walk around feeling guilty over things we cannot control.
We have no objection to liberals entertaining themselves by doing so, we just refuse to participate.
The science you refer to is speculation, and a matter of opinion. The politics of it is scary because any politician you manage to convert to your way of thinking will be hell bent on restricting our freedoms even more for"the protection of the planet".
The fact that you insist we should feel guilty, right along with you, only serves to entertain you, and it is dangerous to freedom, which we value, it does nothing to improve our lives.

So enjoy!!!
You are entitled to whatever joy you can take out of life.

But don't try to impose your martyrdom on the rest of us.

I think it's funny that you accuse conservatives of politicizing global warming when this whole global warming alarmism was virtually started by uber-liberal Al Gore. If you stop being selective in your "science" (I say "science" because much of the evidence is based on unproven assumptions, and ignores factors that would go against it) you'll see that global warming is NOT proven, there is NOT overwhelming evidence that says otherwise and there is NO consensus. There are plenty of credible scientists that will refute man-made global warming and if you examine both sides of the debate, the whole "crisis" is blown out of proportion.

I am a strong conservative and I do not deny global warming. However, I would like to ask those Al Gore supporters this:
If global warming is happening, like you say, why aren't New York and San Francisco under water?

Did you know 53% of scientists actively involved in global climate research do not believe global warming had occurred?
