I hope not. When the two stars are healthy, they get the role players wide open shots, which is supposed to create better spacing for the star players, making it easier for them to get the gaudy numbers fans expect.
Since they made the old two man isolation game spread offense, from the Olajuwon era, an illegal offense, you really need two stars to make this happen consistently. They have the two stars who are both good at attracting double teams and making the right pass.
It has not been working, not because Yao and T-Mac aren't getting the ball out in time or to the right players, but because the right players, those assigned to take the shot in the plays they are running, can't consistently make wide open shots.
Replacing either star player, without fixing the 'missing wide open shots' problem, will change nothing. If they fix that problem first and Yao and T-Mac still can't get it done, I don't care if they trade both of them, but until then, they could be making a big mistake.

For the past couple seasons, the Rockets have not lived up to their potential. On paper with Yao and McGrady, they look great, but for whatever reason, they just do not perform to their potential.
I think that this will be the year that they finally move one of their superstars. I would NOT move Yao, he is one of a kind, however, a scoring shooting guard can easily be replaced. Don't get me wrong, a healthy McGrady is one of the top players in the league, but something is wrong with the team's chemistry.
The Rockets are always being called "soft," so I would want in return a banger at Power Forward (Eddy Curry, Tyrus Thomas, Ben Wallace) and a Shooting Guard who can score and play defense (Ben Gorden). I would also look and see if Jason Kidd is available. The Knicks, Nets, Lakers or Bulls are the teams to be talking to. (Is Kobe still on the trading block?)

First off you don't trade big young talented 7 foot 6 centers. I think they should trade tracy. he's proven time and time again to be injury prone and to be a total wash come playoff time (never been out of the first round, blew series leads on two well documented occasions). Most NBA team's in the playoff hunt or in need of a explosive scorer, would be more than willing to trade for t-mac. I think houston should do it now while they can get a good player or two.
I think Chicago would be the best fit for tracy. houston could get both ben's and have that help defender, rebounder for yao and ben gordon (a proven clutch performer). Actually you could pry a couple of players off of Chicago... maybe even Deng and Wallace. New York is there for the picking too as is Sacramento for Artest and/or Bibby. Grizzles for Gasol and a point guard.

It will be T-Mac to go if a trade happens - that translates into at least 25 calls around the league for enquiries; if Rockets makes Yao, the other 29 teams will call you in the next 15 minutes because you can't often have a dumb decision like this.
Yet the key is how to get rid of mediocres in terms of moving T-Mac away. Alston is a household must-trade, one of Francis/James/Head would be moved too, so is Hayes/Snyder. Yet my bold prediction is to move Adelman also.

if they trade someone it will be mcgrady. he is still a great player you just cant trade a guy like yao away when the league has so few true centers. plus mcgrady is increasingly injury prone and hasnt shown the ability to lead a team to even 1 playoff series victory. on top of that getting his contract out the door will give the team flexibility to pursue a free agent in the offseason. regardless something has to happen. it isnt the coach since adelman is new, so it has to be the players. one of those guys has to go.

T-mac has to go....He shoots way too many jumpers and when he takes it inside, he gets injured or when the Rockets are losing then he fakes an injury. He is becoming like the T-mac we all came to know in his last years in Orlando. Rockets have to get rid of him quick otherwise I do not see the Rockets making the playoffs this year.

I think they should, because their team isn't doing so good
and T-Mac hasn't been doing so good either. I would do Tracy McGrady for Chauncey Billups since the rockets need a distributor on their team.
