Rising sea level, changes in rainfall and drought patterns and an increase in 'extreme weather events' will result from global warming.Deserts are expected to become hotter. There will be a marked impact on the type of trees that grow in forests particularly in high latitudes. There are likely to be widespread and mainly adverse effects on human health partly because of increased heat stress and partly because infectious diseases will become more widespread as the pests that carry them proliferate.
