I'm a cheerleader and trying to improve my jumps, stunts, and tumbling. I have the best jumps on the squad but are squad is in beginers level so I want my jumps to be way better. Also I have a problem keeping my toes pointed when i jump. In my stunt group I am a base and i'm not big so it's a little hard so i need some tips to make it easier to lift her. As for tumbling I can only do a cartwheel and as for my roundoff I need to work on pushing of the ground but it seems to happen to fast. And I'm learning to do a front walkover but everytime I land it's like i'm in a bridge mode and I can't get up(I'm just glad I got fear over about doing a flip). Also one more thing when I cheer on the sidelines and stuff my head starts to thump or hurt so is the rest of my squad. i know I have alot of issues but please help.

For jumps: Do a LOT of them every day. That's really the best way to improve them.

For pointing toes in jumps: Put a little tape on your ankles or feet. Don't constrict them, just make it enough that your feet feel funny and therefore remind you to point as you jump.

Round-offs: Are your hands in the right position? That helps with the turnover. First hand down is like a cartwheel, second hand down is turned in so that the fingers point at the first hand's thumb.

FWO: Can you get up from a front limber? That will help build some strength in your abs and quads. You can rock back and forth to get up. Make sure you try to get up on a rock that is pushing your body toward your feet.

Well, for jumps just focus all your energy on pointing your toes. Thats how I learn everything, I focus all my energy at one thing each time I do it, then eventually I don't have to think about it, it just happens.

Stunting, you do need some arm muscle for basing, you should be able to bench press 1/3 of your flyers weight at the least (Ex: if your flyer weighs 90 lbs, you should be able to bench press 30 lbs). But honestly basing is all in your legs. You guys are probably at the level of doing full extensions right? If you are sink enough that your legs are ALMOST at 90 degrees. Don't go too far or else you will tip over!

My best advice for tumbling is try your hardest. There are people on my team who don't put there all into learning tumbling because they are scared they will suck! Also, do the same as for jumps, focus all your energy on one thing at a time. Specifically, for round-offs, try doing a handstand doing a half turn (while upside down) then jumping onto two feet. Thats how I learnt! Then change it to a cartwheel to handstand to landing on two feet.

Good luck, hope I helped :)

I was a cheerleader for 6 years and I was also a base. The thing that helped me the most when putting your flyer up into a stunt was building up my arm endurance. If you lift weights about three times a week your arms will get stronger in turn making you a stronger base. As for keeping your toes pointed when you jump, focus on that. Make that what you think about when your doing jumps. Also when you do your stretches practice pointing your toes. As for your head hurting when your doing sidelines the only thing i can think of is your not yelling from your diaphragm. Your yelling from your throat causing pressure. Hope that helps!

well when your base u kinda have to be tall.i used to be base but i got moved up to flyer.if u can try to stand on ur toes when u stunt the girl up.she wont fall cuz i've done it in competions.when you do ur tumbling and flips point ur toes if u cant then just point them when u start and when ur donr flippin or tumbling point them aagain.trust i've been a cheerleader before and my mom is a judge for cheer comps.they dont realize when u just point ur toes at the beggininng of the flip or tumble/
