I'm due for the 30k scheduled maintenance on my 2005 Honda Accord V6. It includes a 30 point inspection, air filter replacement, oil change, tire rotation and balance, transmission service, etc...The cost was quoted at $489. Is this an average cost?

I called two other dealerships and received the following price quotes: $289 and $332.35. I asked all three dealerships what is done, trying to compare apples to apples here...all three dealerships gave conflicting accounts of what Honda requires during a 30k maintenence. Some go above and beyond (is a fuel injecter flush and air filter replacement worth an extra $200??) and some only do bare minimum. All three would not provide me a complete list of what is done, along with a price breakdown of each.

Yes that's about right at Honda. You can save if you do it yourself however, are you a Honda service tech? That's what you are paying for and during the 30point inspection they will complete any recall repairs. To me it is worth the extra money to make sure the car is right. I take my truck to the dealer about every other year.

30 point inspection is just a fancy way of them saying they will look at 30 different things in your car.

1 - check your oil
2 - kick the tires
3 - look in your glovebox to see if they can steal anything else from you besides your $489.........

LOL... Follow the other people's advice and take your car to Midas, or Pep Boys and save yourself the money. They all use the same diagnostic equipment (as "30 point checks" are almost all done on a computer), making a "Honda Tech" just as good as a monkey that can plug a diagnostic computer to your car.

P.S. If you are hellbent on bringing it to a Honda dealership, you may want to call other Honda dealerships to see if they have a better deal.

That's ridiculous. You'd save a lot by going to a Pep Boys or similar service center. Good luck.

it really isn't necessary to go to a honda dealership to have maintenance like that done. just go to a regular (but reputable) service center and it will be a ton less
