Always buy those noisy toys? Everyone of my 3 kids got something that makes a lot of noise. I think the next time they visit Grandma, I'll send all her gifts with them

Thank Grandma, Divert the children's attention and put the toys away. Then explain these are "special toys" only to be used when Grandma comes to babysit. lol That should do it.

Ha! That's funny! And true... I don't think my daughter got anything particularly noisy this year, but I don't mind it when she does. Then again, she's my only child, so I don't have 3 kids with noisy toys around the house! LOL I think sending the gifts for them to play with at Grandma's would be a great idea! Maybe she'll keep it in mind when shopping next year...

Have you ever thought to actually communicate with them about their gift choices, dear?

There's nothing wrong with gently but firmly issuing gift guidelines.

Why people buy noisy toys is beyond me. Same goes for manically colored crap. Toys are supposed to fire a child's imagination -- not overwhelm them with sensory over-stimulation and/or vapid "entertainment" diversion.

Those grandparents would do well to buy creative things like Legos. Or books.

Soooo true. And if it's not a noisy gift, then it's always a messy one. One year the kids got a small drum set & piano thing & the same year for their birthday they got lots of paints & playdough, etc....

Something happens past a certain age. They forget how much these things annoyed them as parents, and they suddenly think they're cute or fun. See what you have to look forward to?
