In the same pickle most of the time. If your f in law asked you something just shrug your shoulders and say you don't know.

That's what I do and it seems to work.

It keeps me out of the middle of it.

Bow out and say, "Look. I'm sorry you two seem to have issues between the two of you. Maybe both of you should sit down and talk. I'd really rather not be involved. I am only an in-law and this is really personal family business. I'm sure though that you two can work all these things out." Oh and "have a nice day!"

I suggest you strongly speak to your father in law and your husband together. Sit down the three of you and let it all out, one at a time. Make sure, after that, you tell your father in law to move a little bit further away and live his life by his rule without bothering you or your hubby !!

Speak up for yourself to both of them. This lack of communication between father and son indicates more than a little immaturity on their part. This is not your fight, but you should ask the parties to get together and solve their problem because it obviously affects you.

Good luck.

Sit down with your husband who you made a committment to. He is the only one that you are have a one to one relationship with. You may need to set some boundaries of what you will or will not allow your father-in-law speak to about or into your relationship with your husband. Protect that relationship as a priceless treasure.

I would just get my husband to talk to his father about it. I would have him tell his dad that you don't want to be put in the middle of any of their issues.
