I can't believe I have forgotten.....And I recently graduatd with masters...I feel so stupid.

If I need to work out average, from a list of numbers...I add up all the numbers and divide by the number of numbers...Is that correct???

For example: what is the average?

10
30
15
18
27
???

I would add up these numbers and then divide by 5. Is that correct?

That is correct:

10+30+15+18+27 = 100

100 / 5 = 20

The average is 20.

that's it! :)

you add all of the numbers together and divide by the amount of numbers there for example as shown in ur example

10+30+15+18+27 = 100
the divide by how many numbers there are
=5

so 100 /5 = 20

Yes, that is how to calculate the mean average. There are two other averages.
The median: lin eup the numbers in order, smallest to largest, and pick the middle one.
The mode: The most common number - so in your case as they are all different there is no mode.
