Best to give an example.
If I start with 10 apples and give 4 to Janet and 6 to John.
I have divided the apples in the ratio 4:6
The main helpful thing to remember is how many apples there were to start with (4+6 = 10).
Now we can answer a percentages question such as 'what percentage of the apples went to Janet'?
Percentage = ((number of apples given to Janet)/(total number of apples))*100%
= (4/10)*100%
=400/10%
=40%
Expressing the percentage as a decimal
40% is the same as saying 40 out of 100 or 40/100 = 0.4
Expressing the percentage as a fraction
40% is the same as saying 40 out of 100 or 40/100
Normally we simplify fractions where possible by dividing the top and bottom (numerator and denominator) by the same number until we can go no further (not allowing remainders).
So ...
40/100 (divide top and bottom by 10) = 4/10
= 4/10 (divide top and bottom by 2) = 2/5
So Janet received 40% of the apples, 2/5 of the apples or 0.4 of the apples ... depending on how you want to express it.
If we divided the apples between more people ...
We could give Naeem 5 apples, Chandra 3 apples and Hiro 2 apples. The ratio is 5:3:2 ... the total number of apples is 5+3+2 = 10
Working as before
Hiro gets 2/10 of the apples = 0.2 of the apples = 1/5 of the apples
this is (2/10)*100% of the apples = 20% of the apples.
One of the most foolish things we can do is to not ask for help when we cannot do something. I salute your wisdom and hope that this answer helps.

50% = 50/100
= 0.50/1.00
= 1/2.
75% = 75/100
= 0.75/1.00
= 3/4.
= three-quarters. The 4 is the denominator, 100 is split 4 ways i.e. into 4*25 = 100%,
3*25 = 75%
Consider a cake that you've divided into 4 equal portions.
if you eat 3 portions you've eaten 3/4 or 75% of the cake; the whole cake = unity = 1, so you have 0.25 or 1/4 or 25% (1*100) remaining.
Also, you might consider 24 carat gold. If you were asked for the [rough] percentage gold in a 9 carat ring knowing that 24 carat is 100% gold & 24 is the denominator, you would simply multiply 9 by 4: 9*4 = 36% gold = roughly one third.
If you wanted to know the exact %age it is:
(9/24)*100 = 0.375*100 = 37.5% gold.
Mathematicians use ratios to determine the character of a geometric object. Two objects may appear on the face of it to be similar whereas ın reality they are different. You look for what does not change, THE INVARIANT PROPERTY, which are the ratios and this determines the true character of the object. Artists know that the difference between human faces and feline faces is the ratio between, say,
nose to chın & ear to ear (dıstances). The RATIOS OF DISTANCES DEFINE THE SPECIES SINCE THE RATIOS ARE AN INVARIANT PROPERTY.
Pie charts VISUALISE ratios and are often used to present political data.
A cırcle = 360 degrees = 100% = total number of seats; and by havıng two Pıe charts sıde by sıde, swıngs can be seen.

fraction to Decimal, you do long devision
3/4 you devide 3 by 4
.75
_______
4 | 3
2.8
.2
.20
0
Decimal to Fraction you make a fraction using the smallest
significant power of 10 and simplify
.75 = 75/100
= 15/20
= 3/4
Decimal To Percentage move the deciamal 2 places to the right.
.75=75%
Percentage to Decimal move the decimal 2 places to the left
75% = .75
