It is one of the many imaginary entities created by people to scare themselves and others. Demons are really just a symbolic way of explaining the perceived evil of the world.

From a strictly biblical stand point, God created an invisible world which co-exists with out physical world. We can not see them (without assistance anyway), but they can see us. There is suggestion of other entities, but Angels and Fallen Angels led by Lucifer are the ones prominently mentioned in the Bible. Lucifer was the most powerful of the Cheribum, the most powerful type of Angel (although second in rank to the Seriphim who do not travel to earth.)
Lucifer led a rebellion against God, and 1/3 of the angels followed him. They are jealous of Gods love of the human race, and seek to destroy the human race, like an 4 year old becoming jealous of a baby sibling, because they are no longer getting the attention.
Demons are members of this 1/3 of all angels that followed Lucifer in the rebellion against God.
Anyway, they have the same abilities of angels, however, they do not have to obey God's will, so they can possess a human and control them, influence people, and basically trick people into sinning and make sure they do not recieve the grace of God.
This war will end with the Battle of Armegeddon.

The word "demonic" with the two word parts "demon-" and "-ic" with the "-ic" meaing 'refering to' the "demon-".

You asked about a demonic entity; that would mean any (type of) entity behaving as a "demon"; per Merriam Webster: "a source or agent of evil, harm, distress, or ruin".

This is not necessarily a Demon as people generally refer to the class of beings formerly known as Angels and who fell from grace.

If you are overly interested in figuring it out for yourself, I suggest you read the Qur'an Surah 72 that explains about the Djinn (Jinn) {aka Geni} and how there are those that are 'good' and those that are 'bad' -- like humans without bodies.

Also track down 1 Enoch and get a better insight into the "fall from grace"; it has been my understanding that the main reason the 200 became "Demonized" was because they loved the daughters of man...and they would teach humans how to be self-reliant...but read if for yourself with an open mind.

As an example I see that the other Angels were just a little bent that mankind was able to learn some of their "secrets":

1 Enoch Chapter 9

5 ages, and Thy name holy and glorious and blessed unto all the ages! Thou hast made all things, and power
over all things hast Thou: and all things are naked and open in Thy sight, and Thou seest all
6 things, and nothing can hide itself from Thee. Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all
unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which
7 men were striving to learn: And Semjaza, to whom Thou hast given authority to bear rule over his
associates. And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the earth, and have slept with the
9 women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sins. And the women have

Keeping in mind that history is always written by the victor and their perception isn't always the correct perception.

A demonic entity, or demon, is a malevolent creature that exists in the spiritual, invisible plane.

According to the Bible, the demons were once angels, who chose to follow Satan (or Lucifer, an archangel) in his rebellion against God. These angels, along with Satan, were cast out of heaven, and now inhabit earth, where they live in active rebellion against God, and in an antagonistic role against mankind.

some of you are saying that you can't see a deamon without help.................bosh! I've seen them and they are real.

They do that to scare you.

God says "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom".

Who do you fear most?

A demonic entity is a deamon....a helper of the devil (one of the fallen angels that fell when He himself was kicked out of heaven for wanting to be like God/as God.

You plead The Name, The Word, and the Blood of Jesus to command them to leave you.
