Now, I'm somewhat educated. I know that the act of oral sex can't get you pregnant, I know that much. But, if semen were to get onto my hands or something and eventually end up... down there, do I need to worry? Basically I'm not sure how long it takes for semen to die when they're outside of the body.

I intend to clean myself off with a towel afterward as soon as possible and take every precaution I can, but is there still some way I could get pregnant? My gut says no, there isn't, but I want to be sure before I do anything.

Just to clarify: I'm seventeen. I'm not an uneducated elementary school student. My knowlege is leading me to believe that it is not possible to get pregnant tis way. However, I am also a virgin, in both intercourse and oral sex. Therefore, I have no experience. I would like to get the opinion of someone who does. So please, don't scold me for anything.

Also: I realize condoms are an option, however I suspect that if he were to wear one, it would stifle the sensation and ultimately defeat the purpose. Is this true?

I will reiterate: I already know that you can't get pregnant from oral sex alone. I already know that. I already know that, once more, I already know that.

Oral sex can't get you pregnant but you can still catch STDs including AIDs without a condom.

Okay...no scolding. Actually it's good to ask questions rather than to experiment.

First of all, oral sex {if the man ejaculates into your mouth}, can still transmit AIDS if he is positive and you have an open sore on your mouth or a cavity or something inside your mouth. This is a very personal act, and not to be taken lightly no matter what some of your friends might say. Let's be honest. If they guy you are with has EVER been with another girl, whatever she has, he has, and he's about to share it with you.

Now, about condoms. Yes, it does seem to defeat the purpose. The regular ones you buy at the drug store taste dreadful due to the spermicide. But you can get some at adult stores that are made just for oral sex that have no spermicide, and actually come in different flavors! The problem is you have to be at least 18 to get into those places, so you would need a trusted friend to pick some up for you.

As far as getting his ejaculate on your hands and then transmitting it to yourself...not if you go to the washroom and wash up with anti-bacterial soap before you touch yourself anywhere.

Good luck honey...and anybody that has a smart@ss answer for you just wants their 2 points. Blow 'em off...pardon the pun!

First, use a condom. If you are concerned about the taste of a regular condom there are flavored condoms you can buy. Even if you can't get pregnant from giving oral you can get some STD's if he has any. As far as get some on your hand there is a very small chance that if you get some on your hands and then touch yourself down there that you could possible get pregnant but the chances are fairly small. No matter what don't do anything you are not ready to do and don't let him pressure you.

Sperm can live for a while outside of the habitat it was designed to operate in. Yes, it is possible to transfer sperm from a towel to your vagina where it could cause you to become pregnant. I'll not say that it will happen every time, but it is possible. You should talk to the doctor about this, or a specialist about just how long sperm do stay active, are remain viable. It would be better to know, than remain not knowing what is actually right. Your best bet is to wash with soap and water and use a towel that was not used to wipe anything off from your "play time".

Directly, like you said, NO, oral sex cannot get you pregnant.

However, there is a possiblity if, again like you said, some got on your hands and then you went and touched yourself "down there" some of his swimmers can make its way up and get you pregnant. Any mere contact with his swimmers on your special place can lead to possible pregnancy. Semen can live up to 4 hours outside the body and 3 days inside the body.

Sperm survives for an hour outside the body depending on temperature and moisture conditions. Therefore, technically it could happen if you were to touch the semen and then insert fingers into the vagina. Out of 750+million sperm....one could make it's way through. The chances of that happening are so remote that I cannot even find an instance of it ever happening.
Experience brings you better sex, not less chance of pregnancy. So let's just set aside the fact that you are inexperienced. I know people that have been having sex for years and are still uneducated about pregnancy and std's.
Birth control! If you are even thinking of being sexually active in any way shape or form, it is time to start taking birth control. You can obtain it from your family physician or Planned Parenthood without your parents permission or knowledge. It is best to talk with your parents about getting it, but if that is not an option I want you to know you can do this on your own. Pay for it out of your own pocket and they will never know....or tell them and let their insurance take care of it. Either way....get birth control. That is the first step to sexual activity! It comes before foreplay! Condoms should also be used. ALWAYS! Just when you think that boy is telling you the truth about who he has had sex with and whether or not he has a clean bill of health (i.e. no sexually transmitted diseases), he is lying. I am not saying they all lie....I am saying you can trust no one.
In the meantime, if you have oral sex and swallow the semen you are safe from pregnancy but not std's. If you have oral sex and do not allow the semen to be in contact with the vagina you are safe from pregnancy but not std's. Even if you are on birth control you should use condoms for extra protection against pregnancy and to protect from std's. Abstinence is the surest way to stay disease and pregnancy free, but it is not reality. We are human. Humans are mammals. Mammals have a natural instinct to procreate. Sexual desire is a normal and prevalent instinct.
I highly recommend you talk to Planned Parenthood before any sexual activity. They will give you a realistic overview of all things considered and will not feel the need to 'lecture' as a family physician may do. They are a great source for protection and pregnancy prevention.
In closing.......Oral sex, mutual masturbation, dry humping and heavy petting are great alternatives to actual intercourse, but precautions still need to be taken.
The best of luck to you, and please please please talk to a professional health care worker and read more about all of this before you engage in the activity itself!

Hello,

I hope I understand your question right!!!
Semen last about a life span of 30 seconds without being incubated in the vagina--there is no difinitive proof (that I am aware of) that semen lasts longer. So if the scare is that you may get pregnant-- unless it is immediatley placed in the vagina--there is no way to get pregnant.

However, there are much worse problems that could happen if you do not use any protection (condom). You can still get HIV from an infected person by performing oral sex without use of protection. So please be smart and use protection. The person will still feel the sensation---and buy dental dam for his protection. If an infected persons semen or open mouth sore is (blood) is transferred to you--you could get infected with a deadly, incurable virus.

It can get crazy out there so please be smart!!!! You should have this talk with him and tell him your concerns (about pregnancy and STDs) and ask that if you are to perform this act on him that he should be ok with using a condom. I mean you are doing this for him--he should compromise. Please, please be safe--and protect yourself from diseases. There is always the option of going to have an AIDs test together if you plan on having a relationship together.

I hope I did not preach to you too much--i remember being a kid. Remember that worse then getting pregnant; you can get an incurable disease.

Be safe!!!!!!!!!

The sperm in semen do not have a long life and die very quickly. You are unlikely to get pregnant from oral sex. However, you can catch a lot of other unpleasant things from it; and, oral sex has a way of leading to stuff that can result in pregnancy, because once it begins the brain switches off.

If there's a little teeny bit on your hand and you accidentally get it near your vagina, the odds are still super-slim. Sperm can live up to a few hours but a full shot isn't sure to get you pregnant, and one tenth of a shot after being out in the air for ten minutes is even less so.

Consider getting on the pill if you're becoming sexually active, even if you're a virgin as of now.

NO! If you have to ask this question you are not ready to take this huge step! Please wait, you won't regret it!

Note: After checking the Planned Parenthood website I found
the following:

Can I get pregnant without having intercourse?

Even sperm that is ejaculated onto the outside of the vagina could find its way inside to make a woman pregnant, especially if there are vaginal fluids present. So yes, it is sometimes possible to get pregnant without having intercourse. We recommend you always use a method of birth control if you’re having sex play where semen might reach the vagina. Better to be safe than sorry!

The chances are slim to none, but it goes to show that you are never too old to learn!

Not that I know of, but you're right about cleaning yourself up after the nut so that you won't have to worry about that. I think oral wouldn't be as pleasurable if you used a condom, but if you don't really know the guy or if you have a cut or sore in your mouth you should use one. Better safe than sorry! Good question!
